SEPT 24, 2008 - Ling cod on the bite.  Several in the 20-25 pound range.

SEPT 19, 2008 - Fishing just about every day. Catchin' every day we go. Nice mixed bags of both rockfish and a few Ling cod.  The ocean has been cooperative with our effort.

SEPT 6, 2008 - Lot's of big rock fish on the bite.  Numerous ling cod have been caught, several in the 20-25 pound range. We have had wind in the afternoon but the mornings have been fine.  We can add another rockfish to our bag limit to take home starting on the 7th of September.  And we can go back to our deeper holes starting OCT 1.  We will be open for Catchin' until the weather changes and makes it a 'no-go proposition' (the first part of November) This years weather has been strange though so who knows.

AUGUST 23, 2008 - Southerly moving in.  Watching for tuna.  In between we are catching the rockfish and the Ling Cod have also been out there.  Some days  the Ling Cod have been on the bite better than others but for the most part usually some Ling Cod every day.

AUGUST 10, 2008 - Wide open catching... tides are better.  Ling cod bite improved.  Several were caught...a 25 pound hawg in the mix.

AUGUST 7, 2008 - We have working around the tides lately.  The minus tides are over now.  Lings have been around,  the rockfish have been good quality.  It has just been tricky finding the school that is in the mood for snacking.  Ocean is nice.  Overcast skies.

JULY 23, 2008 - Ling Cod and rockfish catchin' continuesto be productive. Was windy in the afternoons but very fishable in the morning.

JULY 15, 2008 - Ling Cod and Cabezone on the bite. Flat calm ocean.

JULY 13, 2008 - Weather is FINALLY back to normal.  The fish are hungry, ocean is back to normal.  Catching was great over the weekend.

JULY 7,2008 - WOW!  Good days of fishing and fun times by all.  The bite was on all week.  Next 2-3 days are forcasted as windy.

JUNE 30, 2008 - Really good wide open catchin' on a flat ocean.  Everything is biting well and the conditions couldn't be better.

JUNE 16, 2008 - Finally the windy afternoons have settled down.  Catchin' has been great with ling cod and cabezone still on the bite.  The rockfish have been a steady catch with good size to them.

MAY 31, 2008- Free fishing weekend Sat June 7 and Sun June 8.  No license required to fish in Oregon.

MAY 29, 2008- Weather is great, flat ocean, good catchin'

MAY 25, 2008 - Ling Cod back on the bite now that the full moon has passed and the wind has died down.  Beautiful ocean, great conditions.

MAY 21, 2008 - Check out the Azalea Festival button in the upper right corner of this page for the times of events for the entire Azalea Festival / Memorial Day weekend in Brookings.

MAY 20, 2008 - Wide open availability on all boats for this Memorial Day weekend.  The ocean is absolutely flat.  The weather is really nice.  For today there is a chance of rain but it feels warm outside - Hard to describe but awesome and different....we'll take it.  The weather for the weekend is predicted to be good, no rain, just beautiful.

MAY 13, 2008 - Beautiful days.  Ocean flat calm in the morning.  Good catchin' going on.

MAY 6,2008 - Small groups.  Big Catches.  Lot's of Fun!!

MAY 2, 2008 - Rockfish catchin' is wide open.  A 35 pound ling cod was caught over the weekend and several others besides.  Flat calm ocean this morning.  Catch us on channel 19 (Coastal Treasures) in the Medford area for a clip of our trips.

APRIL 19, 2008 - The lings continue to be on the bite, not quite wide open but nice ones just the same.  The rockfish have been good quality.  It's going to be a matter of working around the weather this week.

APRIL 12, 2008 - Incredible catchin' continues....awesome variety of rockfish.  Quillbacks, Vermillion and Cabezone still hitting the jigs.  The Blacks are good quality size and the Ling cod are still HUNGRY!!!  The ocean has been flat and the sun has been shining without any wind to speak of.

APRIL 4, 2008 - Beautiful days.  The bite has still remained good with both Ling Cod and Rockfish being caught.  The larger females have moved in the last couple of days.  We had 24 ling in the boat and let some go besides that since we were limited. Rockfish are present both in the bay and up by Twin rocks.  The Guys have been getting lots of compliments from the fishermen.

MARCH 31,2008 - Finally the winds are just about gone.  We have been able to go catchin' every day for the last week and a half.  Fishing has been fantastic and even better the last 2 days limits of rockfish AND limits of Ling cod.  Ocean is flat calm in the morning.

MARCH 14, 2008- James took out the Bottom Line with 7 anglers. They caught their limits of rockfish then topped off their bags with 7 ling cod and 3 cabezone.  He commented the bite in general was much better than last week.

MAR 8, 2008- I was surprised that we were able to go catchin' this weekend.  The forecast sure didn't sound good but as it turned out it was fine.  The Captains have had to search for the rockfish and been successful by the end.  The ling cod have not been hot on the bite.  But a few have been caught.

FEB 26, 2008-Eight fisherman ditched work today.  I know who they are. They hitched their ride on the SUPER STAR with Captain Jim. Limits of rockfish were caught for everyone and 14 Ling cod to boot.  Three of the lings were in the 15 pound range.  They're bringin' home dinner tonight!

FEB 23, 2008- We had a good day of fishing today.  The ocean wasn't bad to start with and just got better as the day went on. The rockfish bite wasn't wide open but everyone got their limits.  The ling cod bite was definitely better...we caught 14 of them, tried for limits but couldn't quite do it.

FEB 22, 2008- Happy New Year Everybody! Can you believe it? Well, the weather is starting to clear for short periods of time now.  We have taken a couple of trips this year, the most recent trip was last Saturday and the catchin' was good for limits of rockfish but only a couple of lings were caught. We have a trip scheduled for this coming Saturday but I am not completely sure that Mother Nature is going to let it happen.

OCTOBER 25, 2007 - The ocean has calmed down since the last storm set.  In fact we had an easterly which flattens out the ocean well.  The SUPER STAR has been the boat to go catchin' and the bite has been good.  Both the rockfish and the ling cod have been on the bite.  Best to go fishing by Thanksgiving.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2007- Last week was really nice. Beautiful ocean. The rockfish were on the bite and ling cod were caught.  So far this week it's a bit windy, but we are able to go catchin'. The fish are really on the bite, including the ling cod,  making any day a good day to go catchin'.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2007- A little bumpy out there, but the fish aren't minding it much when we go.  We had a quiet week before the Labor Day holiday, not many people wanted to go fishing.  On Monday and Tuesday of last week it was pretty windy anyway and not good for much of anything except for maybe kite flying or O.K.... sailing.

AUGUST 17, 2007- Great turn around. The catching has been steady on the quality rockfish and there have been quite a few ling cod on the bite.  Tidewinds had a lingcod on the line that was piggy-back on a smaller rockfish, it sounded twice, and then let go just at the surface at about four inches from reach with the gaff (and that was with Captain Kyle hangin' on with his toes)  This fish was the biggest lingcod he has ever personally seen . So I'm guessing about 50 pounds. So all we got the classic story of the one that got away...dang it!  Oh, by the way we have had two Pacific halibut caught, each were 30 pounds and they didn't get away.

AUGUST 4,2007- Mixed bag so to speak as far as catchin' goes.  The weather has been variable and that has contributed to fishing variable areas and results.  I would call it fair catchin' only because I've seen some bags with all big fish and others on the scrawny side, is it luck or is it skill? I'm not sure but I know everyone has been having a lot of fun.

JULY 28, 2007- All boats going out and catching the various good quality rockfish. Ling cod have been on and off the bite. The ocean in the mornings has been essentially calm but can get a liitle choppy at times in the later hours depending on how much the the wind is blowing north of Brookings. Not much wind here.

JULY 20, 2007-The Super Star went Albacore fishing on Tuesday. 45 Albacore were caught 20 pound average, a few were 35 pounds.  Kyle ran the Tidewinds locally and limited the boat out on various rockfish and caught 12 ling cod on top of that.  James on the Bottom Line has been limiting out on the bottom fish and bringing in the ling cod right and left also.

JULY 12, 2007- Wind last week made it a little tougher to catch FULL limits but for the most part we pulled it off and got a few ling cod also.  Today and yesterday the ocean looks like Lake Pacific which has brought about even better ling cod catchin', a nice 22 pounder was caught yesterday (by a kid) and the numbers of smaller ling cod being caught are up. Limits of rockfish.

JUNE 27, 2007-  The bite has been pretty good lately and the quality of the fish awesome.  Unpredictable ling-cod bite.  One day we catch 0 or maybe 2 and the next day....12. A few in the 15 # class, One was 22# on Monday. More often the 8-10 # class but alot more of them.  Vermillion, Copper, and Quillbacks have been on the bite and  make for nice color in the bucket and good eatin' on the plate. Anchovies are in the harbor. The ocean condition is FLAT CALM.

JUNE 3, 2007- RED HOT CATCHIN' GOING ON!  The rockfish are on the bite so well that it's tricky to cull out the big one's and still have the trip last 5 hours because all the rockfish are huge. We're targeting  Ling cod  and there are a lot of  hook-up's, but dang it they were mostly shorty's and only a few keepers.. All in all the opportunity is definitely there.  It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time...OUT THERE.  The general condition is Lake Pacific with overcast skies and a little fog.

MAY 26, 2007-Catching has been best when the winds have been calm.  The ling cod have been on the bite when the ocean hasn't been stirred up. Some days everyone on board has caught their two lings then WHAM not a ling caught the next day.  Weather has been the only variable.  Since we are able to keep the ling cod at 22 inches we are definitely been able to keep more on board for your dinner.
